Passage kit
Serum contains trypsin inhibitors. Thus, it is important to remove traces of serum using solution 1. The incubation time for trypsin (solution 2 of passage kit 1 & 2) and the degree of force required to seperate the cells into a single cell suspension varies between cell types. Solution 3 will inactivate the remaining trypsin and prevent cell damage. Since solution 3 (of passage kit 2) contains soybean trypsin inhibitor, it may be used for cultures in serum-free medium, too.
Passage kits 1 & 2 are recommended for the cell types listed below:
- Endothelial cells, chondrocytes, osteoblasts, periost cells, fibroblasts, myocytes, epithelial cells
Passage kit 3 contains dispase to detach cells highly sensitive to trypsin and is recommended for:
- Keratinocytes, melanocytes
Passage kit 4 was developed as an universal and easy passage kit. The detachment solution contains a recombinant enzyme abolishing the need for a neutralizing solution. It is recommended for:
- All adherent cell types
Cryo solution
Cryopreservation is a process of preserving cells by cooling to low sub-zero temperatures. At these low temperatures, any biological activity is effectively stopped.However, in the absence of cryo solutions, the cells being preserved get often damaged due to the freezing and/or thawing process. Phenomena which can cause damage to cells during cryopreservation are solution effects, extracellular ice formation, dehydration and intracellular ice formation.
Supplement kits
Provitro’s cell culture media are supplied in several variations of unit assembly system. Among those, we offer culture media with individual vials for each single supplement as kit version. If you need flexibility in your experiments, we are able to provide you with supplement kit that enables you to add only that supplement you really want to give into your basal culture medium.
